I attended Kellogg Community College and received an Associates degree in Art. Then I was fortunate to apprentice with Frank A. Colson in Sarasota, FL. Apprenticing with Frank was an experience that truly helped me feel confident in my choice to be a professional artist. Learning how to manage my own studio has been a very helpful skill to have as my work and my studio have evolved over the years.

Several years later I attended Penland School of Craft and worked with Steve Howell. This time was a turning point in my career as Steve opened my eyes to a more painterly approach by using underglazes to decorate the surface of my work. Over time my work has evolved to also include textured surface, for which I have received Best in Category and Best in Show at several nationally recognized shows.

My work continues to evolve while maintaining elements of color, texture and a sense of exploration and fun. Having made my living as a full-time ceramics artist I am so fortunate to go to work every day doing what I love. I am constantly observing the world and drawing inspiration from the most abstract of places and hope that my own sense of fun and curiosity comes through in my work.

With more than 30 years under my belt I am still growing, changing and remain excited for what’s next.

I thank you for your support and hope that my work inspires your own sense of fun!
